what to wear
Feeling confident starts with what you wear, so choose outfits that really bring out your natural colouring. Pick pieces that flatter your skin tone so you don’t appear washed out, and consider bringing a few options that enhance the colour of your eyes.
Earthy shades tend to photograph beautifully, think deep greens, burnt oranges, and warming colours. Black and white are classics, they work well when used as part of a layered look. So try to include some colour in your choices.
Soft, muted hues like faded greys or beiges also look great on camera. And remember, layered outfits always add depth and make the images more visually interesting.
Textures, especially things like knitwear, photograph beautifully, so keep that in mind when choosing what to bring. Please avoid bold or distracting logos. Bring plenty of options - the more you pack, the better our chances of finding the perfect look. We’ll have a clothing rail ready, so once you arrive we can lay everything out and decide together.
It might sound obvious, but make sure everything is clean and presentable. Try to iron out any creases beforehand, as they’re incredibly difficult to retouch later. Don’t worry too much, though we’ll have a steamer on hand for any stubborn travel wrinkles.
hair, make up & face
Your hair really helps shape your face on camera, so it’s great to make sure it’s looking its best. Bring along a brush or comb, unless you’re intentionally going for the “messy” look.
We have a mirror and plug sockets ready if you want to use straighteners or tidy anything up once you’re here. Just remember that the more you can do before you arrive, the more time we’ll have to actually shoot.
If you’d like to try a few different hairstyles, absolutely go for it! Feel free to bring clips, hair ties, bobbles anything you might want to experiment with during the session.
We love a natural look on camera. Heavy make-up can show up more than you’d expect and isn’t always the most flattering. Don’t worry if you’ve got a blemish or two, we can easily take care of that in retouching. The same goes for tired eyes; a little editing magic goes a long way. Saying that you are welcome to wear as much or as little make-up as you feel comfortable with, but we recommend keeping it soft and natural. You can always add a bit more during the session if you want to change things up. If you’d like to bring a make-up artist, that’s absolutely fine, just keep in mind that your booked time is for shooting, so any full make-up application should be done beforehand. Touch-ups during the session are totally okay.
One important note - please skip the fake tan. It doesn’t photograph well and can leave the skin looking patchy or uneven. Also, make sure your lips are nicely moisturised, dry lips really show on camera. Bring some lip balm with you (preferably not Vaseline, as it can come across too shiny).
